Engineering Supervisor

This position is the lead technical contact for the Design/Drafting Group.  Responsible for interpreting customer specifications, ensuring compliance with customer specifications, monitoring project schedules, ensuring appropriate documentation is prepared and delivered to the customer and the manufacturing plants. This position will be a lead technical person for strategically assigning production and development engineering design work.


Your Tasks

  • Reviews customer technical specifications and engineering work instructions to ensure requirements are delivered to design engineering in a timely and accurate manner
  • Technical contact for customers relating to warranty issues
  • Coordinate with manufacturing for most economical design and design practices
  • Plans, manages, and oversees the daily functions, operation and activities of the Product Engineering and Drafting/Design group
  • Provide leadership in resolving design issues and developing new products
  • Manages and participates in the development and implementation of company goals and objectives
  • Recommends and administrates policies and procedures
  • Develops and standardizes procedures and methods to improve efficiencies
  • Manage and coordinate work plans for Product Engineers and Design Group
  • Manage and recommend resource requirements
  • Manage and monitor complex projects, on-time and within budget
  • Some domestic and international travel will be required
  •  Performs other duties as assigned 


Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Product Engineering and Design group.Other individuals or groups as necessary
  • Exercise general supervision over support staff

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product design and drafting efforts to meet specific customer requirements
  • Coordinate new product development projects as required
  • Assist sales in determining market opportunities
  • Assist sales in analyzing payback of capital expenditures for new product development


Your Skills

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
  • Minimum 5-10 years directly related experience with 3 years supervisory experience preferred
  • Good understanding and knowledge of the physical/chemical principles of acoustics, filtration, and exhaust after-treatment
  • Must have knowledge of the application of finite element analysis, computational fluid analysis, and modal analysis to develop new products, analysis of system performance, and verification of the structural integrity of products.
  • Must have knowledge of experiment design for the test and evaluation of complex systems. This includes acoustic, vibration, and aerodynamic test methods
  • Must have knowledge of instrumentation used for test and evaluation
  • Must have knowledge of CAD design tools (Pro/E and AutoCad)
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be willing and able to accept additional duties and responsibilities as necessary to promote and support the businesses’ growth and expansion
