Dürr rewards its best suppliers

Bietigheim-Bissingen, May 13, 2014 - For the first time Dürr has honored its best suppliers with the Dürr Supplier Award. The winners in the three categories were presented with their awards at the Supplier Day on May 12, 2014 as part of the company’s Open House. The mechanical and plant engineering company’s intention with these awards is to honor partners who have contributed to Dürr’s corporate success through their performance and reliability.

“Our suppliers play a crucial role in our business. A partnership of equals with them is very important to us”, declared Ralph Heuwing, CFO of Dürr AG. “As an international company which has seen strong growth we need reliable partners who can supply to deadlines on a global scale. In the newly launched Dürr Supplier Award we are seeking to underline our bond with strategically valuable suppliers and accord them recognition for their work.”

The Dürr Supplier Awards were offered in the categories “Global Partner”, “Quality & Reliability” and “Innovation & Technology”, with the 32 best suppliers being nominated.

The nomination was based in part on the supplier assessments of the last few years which looked at factors such as quality, service and delivery reliability. In addition, Dürr drew up assessment benchmarks for the individual categories in the awards. For example, innovative product improvements, technology leadership and the supplier’s ongoing cost consciousness. The prize-winners were selected by cross-departmental teams on the basis of these criteria. The Dürr Supplier Awards will be presented in future every two years as part of the Open House.

All the nominees were invited to Bietigheim-Bissingen for the Supplier Day on May 12. CEO Ralf W. Dieter and CFO Ralph Heuwing announced the winners jointly with the heads of purchasing.

In the “Global Partner” category the prize went to Sova Liberec s.r.o. from the Czech Republic. This system supplier of pipework is a reliable partner for engineering, delivery and installation on many of Dürr’s construction sites worldwide.

Nabtesco Precision Europe GmbH took the award for “Quality & Reliability”. This European subsidiary of the Japanese company supplies transmissions for painting robots. It won because of its excellent quality and fast response times even during the trading problems in the aftermath of the reactor disaster in Fukushima.

Sensitec GmbH from Germany won the award for “Innovation & Technology”. This supplier of measurement technology systems for balancing machines supplies Dürr with innovative, highly precise sensors.
