Your Tasks
- Identifies materials by color code, written material specifications, physical measurement, and other visual methods
- Performs layout sheet, plate, and structural steel shapes for sawing, shearing, punching, burning, bending and rolling in accordance with engineering drawings and written/verbal instructions
- Operates most or all major fabrication equipment, including saw, shear, punch press, ironworker, press brake, and plate rolls
- Utilizes and operates trucks, overhead bridge cranes, chain hoists, and other specialized material handle equipment in the execution of regularly assigned tasks
- Inspects and documents quality of work in accordance with provided standards
- Fills out documentation for material usages and work status
- Performs other duties as directed by supervision
- Must be capable of competent use of the following job-related equipment:
- Air and electric disc and belt grinders
- Air and electric drills, saw, nailer
- Magnetic drill press
- Hand tools such as wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers, scrapers, hammers, tape measure, chisels, punches, pliers, wire cutters, etc.
- Portable hydraulic jacks, pullers, and punches
- Impact wrenches
- Clamps and wedges
- Plate bevellers
- Oxy-acetylene and plasma manual burning equipment
Your Skills
- Achieve at least a passing score on math test
- Have a high school diploma, GED or sufficient aptitude to substitute for the lack of diploma or GED
