Your Tasks
- Manage structural steel bid packages during design.
- Development of subcontract bid package documentation
- Review structural designs & details provided by subcontractors
- Maintain and provide input on project schedules
- Interpret & develop structural drawings
- Provide structural input on mechanical equipment designs
- Specification of purchased equipment: fasteners, anchors, grouts, etc.
- Manage budgets for engineering labor costs – work done in-house.
- Supervision of subcontract engineering and design engineers (CAD)
- Responsible for complete hands-on design, analysis, and engineering calculation
- Attend and/or conduct design reviews
- Support installation on-site as required
- Perform site verification and field checking as required
- Perform quality reviews of subcontract fabrication as required
- Attend customer meetings to understand project requirements
- Communicate with project team, customers, and suppliers
- Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
- Function as a technical expert on structural steel and associated process equipment
- Initiate/ maintain standards for structural steel
- Active participant in the Durr Global Structural team
- Travel approximately 10%
Your Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, with structural concentration
- Seven or more years of structural steel design experience
- Structural Design experience in relationship to process equipment
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Michigan with the ability to acquire additional state’s licensing as jobs require.
- Design calculation proficiency, including member sizing, connections and full structural analysis.
- Design calculation ability for structural sheet metal a plus
- Ability to read and interpret building and process related drawings
- Capable of drawing in AutoCAD
- Capable of drawing in Microstation a plus
- Experience with TEKLA or Bentley’s RAM Elements is advantageous
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Understand and maintain project schedules
- Good time management skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good technical writing skills
- Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
- Able to work well independently and in a team environment
- Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
- Adaptable to change
- Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
