Speaking before an audience of around 600 invited guests and employees, Dürr AG CEO Ralf W. Dieter declared: “Dürr has been operating successfully in China for 30 years. The new site is proof that we continue to have every confidence in the strength of this market”.
Up till now, Dürr China’s mechanical engineering activities were scattered over three sites in Shanghai. Dr. Ralf-Michael Fuchs, CEO of Carl Schenck AG and Head of the Measuring and Process Systems division: “By bringing everything together on our new site in Baoshan, we will achieve synergy effects in logistics, manufacturing, engineering and administration and will be able to support our customers even more efficiently in future”.
Following the final expansion phase, Dürr will be able to use 22,000 square meters of production space and 7,400 square meters of office space in Baoshan. The Group moved into a further new production site in Shanghai for its plant engineering operations back in March 2012. This offers 13,000 square meters of production space and 3,000 square meters of office space.
Dürr has recently seen a significant expansion in its business in China. Between 2005 and 2012 Group sales there increased from € 83 million to € 730 million, with Measuring and Process Systems generating sales of € 135 million in China in 2012. Overall Dürr employs approximately 1,750 people (incl. external staff) in China.
